The swissman Jacques PICCARD and the american Don WALSH make on board of the Bathyscaphen "Trieste" in the record-depth of 10916 m underwater photos.
1963
Nikon buys the rights of the "Calypsophot" and starts with producing the "Nikonos"-cameras
1985
with video cameras, sonar and a programmed searching system the wreck of the "Titanic" is found in 4000 m sea depth
1988
Luc BESSON makes the film "Le grand bleu" : underwater working by Christian PETRON
1991
6. October : The IFREMER (French institute for exploration of the sea) announces a world premiere: pictures, taken in the Pacific Ocean in a depth of 2650 m, coming by an acoustic way to a ship (the "Nadir") on the surface and are redirected by satellite in "real time" to a team of scientists in Brest (France)

Nikon produces the F90. One of the most sold cameras for underwater.

The triumphsl march of digital cameras can't be stopped. There are still some problems which have to be solved, but one may be strained on the future
